Samples were submitted from a bovine kidney with an abnormal coloration. The external surface showed a network pattern with a light brown colour that encircled millimetric round foci of darker brown coloration. (more…)

Pneumonia in a calf caused by Mycoplasma bovis

We received samples from a 11-month-old carcass of a Asturiana de los Valles breed calf. The lung showed nodules from 0,5 cm to 2 cm in diameter, with caseous content at the cut surface, that were distributed craneo-ventrally in the apical and caudal lobes. Also, scant similar nodules showing similar appearance could be seen in the parietal pleura. (more…)

A flock of turkeys arrives at the slaughterhouse, presenting 30% of the animals affected with a respiratory process localized within the upper respiratory tract. In a 15-year-old cross-bred cow, a unilateral increase in the size of the retropharyngeal and prescapular lymph nodes is observed. Upon section yellowish and slightly mineralized lesions generated a suspicion of bovine tuberculosis. (more…)
