Polycystic kidney in a pig

In a 6 months old hybrid pig a bilateral alteration was seen of the kidneys. These showed a loss of structure, with an obvious atrophy of the renal medulla and also, to a lesser extent, of the renal cortex parenchyma which presented with a microcystic appearance. (more…)

Renal petechiae in a pig carcass

In a hybrid breed pig of 6 months of age an increase in size of the kidneys was obserevd algon with the presence of colour changes on the renal surface. It consisted of red or black punctate lesions (petechiae) together with the presence of superficial cavities filled with liquid.
