E. coli pyelonephritis in a pig carcass

Samples of kidney from a porcine carcass were submitted from a hybrid male, 6 months old. The meat inspectors realized that besides the cortical lesion, showing whitish areas surrounded by a hemorrhagic halo, the renal pelvis was dilated. (more…)

E. coli septicemia in broiler carcasses

A total of 11 and 52 broiler carcasses were condemned in two consecutive batches, coming from the same farm. All of them showed different combinations of the following lesions: fibrinous coelomitis, multifocal necrotizing hepatitis, nephritis and renal hemorrhages, pericarditis, pneumonia, cutaneous lesions, cellulitis, and arthritis. Hepatic abscesses in an adult bovine

In a 37-month-old cattle carcass belonging to the brown Pyrenees breed, multiple nodules of 2 to 3 cm in diameter were observed in the liver, with a soft, yellowish content with purulent appearance. When removing the liver with the rest of the viscera, adhesions to the rumen were observed and an abscess with blackish fluid content ruptured. (more…)
