30 minuts – “La fi dels antibiòtics”
Why are antibiotics being so ineffective? How did superbacteria get so strong? Misuse and abuse of antibiotics has meant that bacteria have learned to defend themselves and have become resistant. By 2050 there could be more deaths due to “superbacteria” than cancer.
The Catalan television program “30 minutes” dedicated one of its reports to the current situation where antibiotic use is in our society. The report involves IRTA-CReSA researcher Lourdes Migura, antimicrobial resistance expert (min 16:50).
