Veterinarians of the ”Landbrugets Veterinære Konsulenttjeneste” visit IRTA-CReSA, sponsored by MSD

The past 4 April 2019, IRTA-CReSA was visited by 8 veterinarians working at the ”Landbrugets Veterinære Konsulenttjeneste” (Farmers Veterinary Consultancy), who advice pig and cattle herds as well as mink and poultry operations in Denmark. Most of the vets are specialized into one specific species and those working on swine were present in the visit. Their travelling was sponsored by Merck, MSD Animal Health Denmark and a representative of MSD Animal Health Spain (Marta Jiménez) accompanied the group.

The purpose of the visit was to update knowledge on porcine circovirus 2 (PCV-2) associated diseases and vaccination. Dr. Joaquim Segalés, researcher at IRTA-CReSA and professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, presented the a practical view of current challenges faced by veterinarians and farmers in respect this viral infection. The presentation and discussion took the whole morning, which end up with a short visit to the facilities of IRTA-CReSA.
