The Spanish TV talks about the “MIXOlepus” project

The initiative, coordinated by IRTA-CReSA researcher Ignasi Badiola, is working to develop a vaccine against myxomatosis, an infectious disease that affects the Iberian Hare since summer 2018.

Myxomatosis is an infectious disease known in the field of cuniculture. The first outbreaks detected in the Iberian hare (Lepus granatensis) triggered a state of hunting emergency, as mortality was 50% according to scientists’ estimates. To find solutions to the outbreak, the IRTA-led “MIXOlepus” project was launched, with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and funding from LABIANA Laboratories and the Artemisan Foundation.
